Dales of Derby, located in the picturesque region of northeast Tasmania, is a contemporary accommodation that caters for 24 people. ​

This building functions as a gathering space for visitors, from morning breakfasts or social gathering to plan for the day ahead or also evening regroupings and the generous common area forms this functional space and the hub of the building with a wood heater and full kitchen. Philip Dingemanse designed this contemporary architecture that comprises of a warm interior with thoughtful attention to detail through the main additions of raw timbers. The form of the building reflects the local mining history in resembling utilitarian tin miner accommodation with the overall form being separated into segments and stretched across the hill to reveal the surrounding landscape in between. ​

Dales of Debry was awarded the 2019 Barry McNeill Award for Sustainable Architecture along with the Commercial Architecture Award by the Australian Institute of Architects, Tasmanian Chapter.
