The Henry Jones Art Hotel is one of a few historic, waterfront warehouse buildings on Hunter Street in Hobart, that Morris-Nunn and Associates restored and improved for contemporary usage. This five-star hotel not only displays art on the wall and by way of furnishings, but art is also incorporated into the built fabric and the design itself. The Henry Jones Art Hotel was the recipient of the 2005 National Special Jury Award, as well as the 2005 Tasmanian Public Building Award. The colonial sandstone façade remains intact, telling the stories of the time and generations it has endured. Within, the buildings age is still clearly visible, and is elegantly highlighted by the new materials present. The smooth, perfect nature of the additions contrast against and draw attention to the worn brick and stone walls, and the aged timber structure.
