The Macquarie Wharf Shed 02 redevelopment consists of several stages including the site masterplan and the redevelopment project. Originally the existing shed had been used as the arrival point for domestic cruise ships to Hobart and due to the increase in demand of use in this wharf underwent development to deal with the increase in demand. The masterplan of this project was designed to improve the traffic circulation including bus and taxi arrangements. As for the redevelopment project of the wharf, the outer shell remains in good condition and was stripped back to its original outer shell state, removing any new additions that were accumulated over the years. There is a new opening that has been made on the western side of the building and this is to give the shed a civic presence as a new waterfront Forecourt. This building has become popular with the Mona cruise liner that connects Hobart's wharf with the Museum of Old and New Art.
