Circa Morris-Nunn designed MOSS 39, a small boutique hotel in the heart of Salamanca which immerses the guests into Hobarts rich culture and history showcasing Tasmania's natural beauty. MOSS 39 won an award in 2020 for Commercial Architecture in Tasmania and is paired with Circa’s other award-winning hotel, MOSS 25, and therefore reflects the character of the original building fabric materiality sandstone. The hotel is on the upper two floors of Hobart’s most historic pub in Salamanca and MOSS 39 is differentiated by having a sun-drenched balcony overlooking Salamanca Square. The MOSS aims to highlight significant architectural features to design an environment that reflects and encourages the memories of Hobart's wilderness hinterland and introduces these into the hotel through subdued colours by abstracting the mossy identity through the suttle green hues. The location of this building makes it easily accessible to the tourist that visits Hobart as it is in the heart of Hobart's main tourist attractions, showcasing the important architecture that highlights Tasmania.
