Circa Morris-Nunn designed this new adaptive reuse project on the Mountain Retreat Medical Centre in 2013. This building’s previous function was a public drinking house, called ‘The Mountain Retreat’ and this was transformed into this new medical centre later on which did not function well as its latest function. Morris-Nunn designed a space that allowed for more people to use the space and therefore it would be accessible to more people, this was achieved through having new consulting suites to benefit both patient and doctor. Four new consulting suites in a new copper clad hipped roofed building to the north of the existing clinic and this created the juxtaposing materiality contrast between the new and the old. The Mountain Retreat Medical Centre won the Colin C Philp Award for Commercial Architecture Australian Institute of Architects (TAS) and the National Award for Commercial Architecture Australian Institute of Architects (AUS) in 2013.
