Circa Morris-Nunn Walker Architecture

2010

Saffire Resort is located on the east coast of Tasmania, within the sandy coastline of Freycinet. In 2010, Circa Morris-Nunn Architects designed this nationally award-winning building that has now become an international symbol of Tasmania.

The resort has won 15 awards from across the world including the 2011 Best of State- Australian Interior Design Awards and the 2010 Best New Tourism Development- Tasmanian Tourism Award. The projects aim is to redefine tourism in Tasmania, and this was done with careful consider of repairing the site as the previous caravan park caused significant damage.

The site consists of several private resorts and one main building which has panoramic views of the hazards. The form of the main building is evoked by the memories of coastal landforms, dunes, waves and sea creatures. The suites are designed from small waves or boats organic forms and are arranged on the site as if marking the tidal shoreline that have exceptional views of hazards.
