Salamanca Inn is located on the waterfront of Hobart, Tasmania, situated in the centre of Hobart's most famous landmarks such as historical Sullivans Cove & Battery Point, Salamanca Market (Saturday only), St David’s Park, Parliament House, and the city centre. Eastman Heffernan Walch & Button designed this building in 1988 and the 1830s sandstone Georgian warehouses converted to Hobart’s best restaurants, cafes, bars, galleries & specialty shops with lined plan trees.
This hotel won the 1989 AIA (Tasmanian Chapter) Architecture Award. The building historic value has been retained to keep the original stories held within the building and this allows the visitor to experience the original warehouse elements within the 1988 contemporary elements.
