Tasmanian Institute of Architects Office

1+2 Architecture

2005

Tasmanian Institute of Architects Office is located at hunter street and the waterfront in Hobart. This building is the new Tasmanian home for the Australian Institute of Architects that was designed by 1+2 architecture.

This heritage project was designed to make the conversion of a derelict industrial warehouse into a suitable office suite that retains the heritage design while creating the harmony of new design aspects. This building has been awarded the 2006 Royal Australian Institute of Architects - Interior – Commendation and the 2006 Royal Australian Institute of Architects – Tas. - Commercial Architect Award.

The heritage of the building preserved through cleaning, or simply been leaving elements so that layers of history can be seen and understood. This is contrasted with the contemporary elements that are refined and clearly identifiable to integrate the design into a functional and interactive space for Tasmanian architecture.
