Rosevear Stephenson

Rosevear Stephenson is an award-winning architectural practice based in Hobart, Tasmania, founded in the late 1990s by architects Craig Rosevear and Martin Stephenson. Together, they bring a balanced partnership—Rosevear leading conceptual design and Stephenson focusing on technical precision and buildability. The studio operates from its Hobart office and has become one of Tasmania’s most respected contemporary firms.

The practice is recognised for its refined, contextually sensitive architecture that values material honesty, craftsmanship, and spatial clarity. Its designs respond closely to site, landscape, and climate, often blending heritage preservation with modern function.

Notable projects include The Ether Building at MONA, Archer House, South Arm House, and Arch South—a trauma-informed facility combining police, counselling, and community services. The studio has received multiple Australian Institute of Architects Tasmanian Awards, including the Alexander North Award for Interior Architecture (2024) and commendations for The Ether Building and Hutchins School Pre-Kinder.

Guided by the principles of calmness, restraint, and integrity, Rosevear Stephenson strives to create enduring architecture rooted in place. Their work reflects a commitment to sustainability, precision, and simplicity, ensuring that each building quietly enhances its environment.
